4 Reasons to Convert PDFs into Word Format and What You Should Expect

Portable Document Format (PDF) might be the best thing that has happened in document transfer technology since computers allowed us to transfer digital documents from one device to another. PDF is an absolute saver when you want to make sure the contents and format of the document remain unchanged during the transfer.

However, there are times when you want to revert your PDF files or even PDF files you got from someone into a more editable format.

It’s quite hard to edit PDFs. For those who’ve tried, setting things like font and font weight is nearly impossible. Therefore, having a way to manipulate text in PDFs is a great time saver.

Here are a few reasons you would want to undo the PDF fixed format by converting it into the easily editable Word format.

Editing

Sharing a document as a PDF is a great way of ensuring a user reads the content within that document. It is a great way of transferring documents to recipients who may not have a program capable of reading the original format of the document.

But, as we alluded to earlier, the PDF format doesn’t allow a user to edit the document. So if the user wanted to add something to the document, he has no way of doing that in the current format. Converting the PDF file into the readily editable Microsoft Word format enables you to manipulate the document in any way you want.

Cases Where You Don’t Have a PDF Reader

While PDFs are viewable into the freely available Adobe Reader, not all devices come with the application pre-installed. For a user behind such a device, it would mean downloading and installing Adobe Reader if they’re to consume the data inside the PDF file.

What if the user lacks sufficient privileges on the device to install Adobe Reader? In such cases, using a freely available online PDF to Word converter tool saves you a headache.

Screen Readers and Accessibility Tools

Screen readers and other tools help vision impaired people to understand what’s on the computer screen. Most of these tools don’t play well with PDF files, but they work seamlessly with Word files.

If you want assurance that everyone can consume your business data, then converting the PDF files is a step in the right direction.

While the reasons for converting PDFs into Word Format are more than compelling, there are several things you should know.

First, not all PDFs can be converted to the Word format. There are instances where the PDF file is made up of text images instead of actual text. Most PDF to Word converters cannot read these images and translate them into the text to be represented in Word format. Some converters can read images, though, but the technology behind them is not mature for real-life application.

Secondly, a PDF to Word converter may fail to read images contained in a PDF. Therefore, the final file may lack the images included in the original PDF document.
