Just like videos, the use of podcasts is turning to be a preferred engagement tool for many entrepreneurs. It can be used to educate your audience on diverse topics and highlight news in the market. Podcasts can also be a great engagement tool with your clients and audience where you give them a platform to share their knowledge, expertise and opinions.
We asked entrepreneurs, podcasters and business owners how they use their podcasts for business.
#1- As a supplement to my LYT classes
Part of my business model includes a podcast, Redefining Yoga. This podcast is a supplement to my LYT method streaming classes where we explore the core values of the methodology: kindness to ourselves and others, compassion for all beings, finding the best way through inquire, the courage to change, discipline to grow and taking a stand for what we believe in.

#2- Provide value
Cresa is a commercial real estate firm that specializes in serving occupiers only. That means, we never work with landlords or developers to ensure our clients are receiving conflict-free representation. As real estate brokers, our primary mission is to be the advisor that brings the greatest value to occupiers everywhere. In honor of that mission, we have created a new podcast for a niche audience. The goal is to simply to provide value by inviting in subject-matter experts to discuss trends in the market and the challenges we see our industrial manufacturer clients facing. Currently, the episodes can be found on our blog, but we will be launching on spotfiy and itunes once we have a couple more episodes recorded.

#3- Three ways
In 2018, I launched the Ignite Podcast for Cardinal. I use it as a channel for attracting prospect, sharing expertise, and showcasing clients. On Ignite I interview CEOs and top business leaders to hear the gritty stories on how they have ignited growth in their companies. As an entrepreneur, I love getting the opportunity to hear from fellow business leaders on their perspectives and experiences. The podcast episodes are easy listens that keep the audiences’ attention from beginning to end. The guests are top notch, including featuring the CEO of King of Pops, Director of Marketing for Macallan Scotch, and the Chief Consumer Officer at Piedmont Healthcare. For prospecting, I’ve been able to leverage the Ignite Podcast to expand our footprint in targeted industries. For example, to help increase our footprint in the Restaurant Industry, Ignite featured the CMO, Rob Crews, of Premier Restaurant Group, which includes Church’s Chicken. While Mr. Crews may not be a household name, his presence in the restaurant industry – especially in the Southeast – is strong. Since launching that episode, we’ve expanded our restaurant group client base.

#4-Leverage
Plain and simple. I have used my podcast, The Decoding Success Podcast, as a way to leverage my personal brand to elevate my presence to the level of the individuals I interview. And, I have Interviewed some of the most recognizable names in industries from business to health to fitness to fashion.

#5-Marketing tools
I have a podcast series titled, Workplace-Strategies, that has dozens of podcasts and articles. I have 55 more podcasts slated for the remainder of 2019. They cover a variety of topics. I use them as marketing tools to reach a number of audiences. I have an active listener base of 47K and, my announcement for each podcast posting goes to over a million LI members, with whom I am connected through LI groups. My podcasts are designedto continue to enhance corporate credibility and I use them as part of our web marketing strategy, both as a credible content provider, but also as a method to strengthen SEO presence and reach.

#6- Provide motivation to entrepreneurs
I currently have two podcasts which I host for my company, Adapting Social. One is Breaking Barriers, where our guests are entrepreneurs and business owners and the other, The Lion's Mentality is co-hosted by Paulie Calafiore of MTV's The Challenge, where the guests are public figures. At their core, both of the podcasts have the same central theme which is providing massive value to listeners across the globe in the form of motivation, inspiration, advice, and guidance. Each week our guests share their journeys connecting on not only their successes and achievements, but their trials and tribulations and the hardships and struggles they have overcome as well. Entrepreneurship is often glamorized and people first starting out on their journey as entrepreneurs can get discouraged due to setbacks and obstacles they didn't predict encountering. I want to provide them with motivation to help them power through those set backs and know that these roadblocks aren't reasons to give up but rather fuel to help them grow and evolve as strong, well-rounded entrepreneurs and humans in general. It means the world to me when people reach out to us on social media and connect with us on how the podcast has helped them get through difficult times in their lives and given them that extra boost of confidence and motivation, and helped them to connect with their why of why they started in the first place to keep on hustling down the path towards pursuing their dreams!

#7- Tackle questions in real estate
I started a podcast for my real estate business because I realized that not everyone can sit and watch a Facebook Live or YouTube video. So I decided that the podcast would tackle questions that home buyer, sellers, investors, and renters would have. Basically taken questions that my team and I are asked every day and answer them on air. It's a great way to build brand awareness and way to connect with the communities we work in.
